Directory tree Although many will save hard disk is not expensive, it is very unlikely we buy a new hard disk instead of clean up current hard disk.

But if you just explore and delete file blindly from folder to folder, you might end up spending long time to free up little disk space.

To make the disk clean up more effective, first we need to how the disk space is occupied. And WinDirStat is a graphical disk usage statistic viewer. It let you view the disk usage breakdown to each directory and sub-directory. So you will be able to identified what folder had taken most space.

It take small memory footprint to calculate the statistic (screen capture above, around 11MB), so it can be used on production server as well.

Just in case you accidentally delete some important file. We have Restoration to rescue :p
